WOLVES is for you and me, the living and the dead. WOLVES is for suckers, WOLVES is for lovers. WOLVES is for the lazy.  WOLVES is about exploring, creating, touching. WOLVES wants to leave you weak in the knees with your heart swelling while you’re gasping for air and falling back on the bed to say “Hot damn!” WOLVES knows things must end, but they must start first. WOLVES understands that a picture is worth a thousand words, and WOLVES also understands that talk is cheap. WOLVES doesn’t care because, above all else, WOLVES loves words.

WOLVES is an online literary journal based out of Korea, edited by an American. They publish fiction and poetry on a bi-monthly basis. They are open to genre but they tend to accept more literary work.

They are open to simultaneous submissions. They pay 5 dollars per poem and between and 5 and 30 dollars for fiction. They are open to reprints, but I suspect they do not pay for them.

They try to respond to all submissions within a month.

All submissions must be made via email. No need to include a query letter. Just send a one to two sentence bio in the body of the email and attach your submission as a word document.

You can get a sense what they have published in the past by browsing through their past issues before submitting.

You can learn more about their submission guidelines here.

Little Pickle Press: Now Accepting Book Submissions https://authorspublish.com/little-pickle-press-accepting-submissions/ Tue, 06 Dec 2016 23:02:17 +0000 http://www.authorspublish.com/?p=6802 Updated March 27, 2018: Little Pickle Press was acquired by Sourcebooks. No word yet on how this will change submissions etc. But you can learn more here.

Little Pickle Press is a publisher in the process of re-branding to become March 4th, INC. They seem to be taking their time at the re-branding because both names are used througout the site in an inconsistent way, even though they are years into the process. This name change might have something to do with the fact that they are growing their business outside of publishing and are working in other media as well now. Although it is a little confusing it does not appear to be a bad sign. No matter what you call the press, it is based out of California and they have a reputation for being particularly environmentally friendly. The press is a B corporation (you can learn more about what that means here).

One of the ways to learn more about Little Pickle Press is to read the interview with the founder here. Little Pickle started out as a self publishing imprint but it has grown a lot since then.

Even though they accept submissions of picture books and books aimed at younger readers, the press is currently focused on finding more manuscripts aimed at middle graders and young adults.  The subjects that they are most interested in are as follows:

  • Kindness—the power of it
  • Dare To Be Different
  • Choices: It’s Not All Black And White; Most of Life is Gray
  • Racism—the deleterious effects of it
  • Refugees
  • Adoption
  • Complex Family Structures
  • Anti-Princess Themes
  • Creativity—the importance of it, fostering it, etc.
  • Leadership and/or Entrepreneurship
  • Divergent (vs. Convergent) Thinking
  • Systems Thinking
  • Responsibility/Accountability/Moving Beyond Gen M Thinking
  • Taking Care of Yourself and Your Community/Planting the Seeds of Being a Locavore

They are open minded in terms of genre. They really want books aimed at children; they are not interested in hidden messages for the adults.

All submissions are made on the new submission platform authors.me. To learn more about how to submit, visit their website here.
